Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 3, 2026
Zolt ("Zolt", "we", "us", or "our") provides a mobile companion application (the "App")
that lets you view information about and send commands to your Tesla® vehicle. This Privacy
Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and protect it, and the choices you
have. By using the App you agree to this Policy.
Independence notice. Zolt is an independent application and is
not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated by Tesla, Inc.
"Tesla", "Model S", "Model 3", "Model X", "Model Y", and related marks are trademarks of
Tesla, Inc. Zolt accesses your vehicle only through Tesla's official Fleet API and only with
your explicit authorization.
1. Information We Collect
Account information
- Your email address and display name, used to create and secure your Zolt account through Google Firebase Authentication (including the option to sign in with Google).
- A unique account identifier.
Tesla account & vehicle data
When you connect your Tesla account, you authorize Zolt — via Tesla's official Fleet API and a virtual key you approve on your vehicle — to access vehicle data, which may include:
- Vehicle identifiers and configuration (VIN, model, trim, software/firmware version, vehicle name);
- Battery and charging information (state of charge, range, charge limits, charging history and invoices);
- Climate and cabin state (temperatures, HVAC, seat heating/cooling);
- Drive and powertrain state (gear, speed, odometer, tire pressure);
- Closure state (doors, windows, frunk, trunk, charge port);
- Precise vehicle location (GPS coordinates), used to show your vehicle on a map and enable navigation features.
Device location
With your permission, the App uses your device's precise location to find
nearby charging sites, center maps, and send destinations to your vehicle. You can deny or
revoke this permission at any time in your device settings; some features will be limited.
Push notification token
If you enable notifications, we store a device push token (Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can alert you to events such as a door, frunk, or charge port left open.
Diagnostics
We collect limited crash and stability diagnostics (Google Crashlytics) to fix problems. Crash reports are configured to exclude your VIN and GPS location.
2. How We Use Information
- To authenticate you and operate the App's core features (view vehicle status, send commands, manage charging, navigation, notifications);
- To display your vehicle and destinations on a map;
- To cache data locally and in your account so the App loads quickly and works across your devices;
- To diagnose crashes and improve reliability and security.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
3. How Information Is Shared
We share information only with the service providers needed to run the App:
- Tesla, Inc. — the source of your vehicle data and the recipient of commands you send, accessed through the official Tesla Fleet API under your authorization (see Tesla's privacy policy).
- Google / Firebase & Google Cloud — authentication, database (Cloud Firestore), file storage, hosting, push messaging, app integrity (App Check), and crash reporting. Data is processed on Google Cloud infrastructure (United States).
- Google Maps Platform — to render maps showing your vehicle and destinations.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
4. Data Storage & Security
Data is stored on Google Cloud/Firebase servers (United States) and on your device. Network
communication is encrypted in transit (TLS), and vehicle commands are cryptographically
signed with a virtual key you approve. Your Tesla credentials are handled through Tesla's
OAuth flow and command-signing keys are never exposed to the App. No method of transmission
or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
5. Data Retention
We retain account and vehicle data for as long as your account is active or as needed to
provide the App. Locally cached data remains on your device until you clear it or uninstall
the App. You may request deletion at any time (see below).
6. Your Rights & Choices
- Access & correction — you can view your data in the App and update account details.
- Disconnect your vehicle — you can revoke Zolt's access at any time by removing the Zolt virtual key from your vehicle (Tesla app → Vehicle → Keys) and revoking access in your Tesla Account.
- Permissions — you can disable location or notification permissions in your device settings.
- Account & data deletion — you can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time at zolt.live/delete-account, or by emailing us at privacy@zolt.live. Upon a verified request we will delete your account data from our systems.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
8. International Users
If you use the App outside the United States, you understand your information will be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
